Current Bus Issues:
Vaughn Smith-Rudolph, current bus driver, came to the meeting to discuss the concerns with Covid-19 and how the bus and students riding the bus will be safe. Lynda read and email from Joe Howard, Prescott Unified School District Superintendent. In the email he stated their school board would finalize their Roadmap to Re-Opening at the school board meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. The state has set a back to school date for the classrooms for August 17, 2020 but anything may change due to the Covid-19 situation. Since the Williamson Valley School Board will be meeting again on August 10, 2020 more information should be available at that time to make any decisions regarding school for the students and how to transport them and what any changes in the bus schedule may need to be revised.
Vaughn discussed the need to take the temperature of the students entering the bus and sending those with a fever home with their parents. Laura Moore is purchasing the sanitizing items needed for the bus as well as a commercial non–contact thermometer. The board discussed the need for students to wear face masks. The students will have assigned seats and families will sit together. Vaughn also suggested, if school does not start on August 17, 2020 in class, for her to make daily runs to pick up student supplies and food from the schools to deliver to the families.
Discussion followed with the need for a letter to be drafted to the Williamson Valley parents explaining how the student bus transportation will be handled and the importance of following these guidelines for the student and staff safety. The board will draft the letter at the August board meeting when additional information may be available from the state.
